Interpretation

How do I know what type of interpretation I need for my event?

There are different types of interpretation: simultaneous, consecutive, chuchotage, or liaison; in person or remotely. The choice depends on the number of participants, languages, and objectives of the event. With over 10 years of experience, I can offer you a tailor-made solution.

The cost depends on several factors: type of interpretation, duration of the event, travel, among others. The quote is calculated per day or half day. Send me the details of your event and I will send you a personalized quote with no strings attached.

Yes, although I work mainly in Milan and northern Italy, I also travel frequently throughout the rest of Italy, Europe, and wherever I am needed to provide interpreting services at conferences, training sessions, technical meetings, press conferences, etc.

For simultaneous interpreting assignments lasting more than an hour, I always work in pairs, so that we can take turns approximately every 30 minutes to ensure the quality and clarity of the interpretation. In such cases, I collaborate with trusted professional colleagues who share my standards of quality and ethics.

Depending on the type of event, I can advise you on renting a bidule system (useful for simultaneous interpreting with few people or on the move) or put you in touch with trusted suppliers who offer specific equipment for larger events (booths, receivers, microphones, etc.). For remote simultaneous interpreting, I have experience with different platforms that allow me to do the work entirely online, without the need for physical travel.

The sooner, the better. Availability can vary greatly depending on the season. In addition, having enough time allows me to thoroughly prepare the content of the event, familiarize myself with the terminology, and coordinate any logistical aspects. However, if your event is imminent, don’t hesitate to write to me: I will do my best to help you.

It is essential that I receive all the material I need to prepare for the assignment: presentations, programs, list of speakers, videos, etc.; this guarantees the quality of the service. Confidentiality is a fundamental part of my work as a professional interpreter. All information I receive before, during, and after the event is treated with the utmost discretion. If you need it, I can also sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA).

Cancellation policy:

  • 50% of the agreed cost will be charged if the cancellation of the service is notified between 10 and 5 business days before the agreed date of the service.
  • 100% of the agreed cost will be charged if the cancellation of the service is notified less than 5 business days before the agreed date of the service.

Translation / Transcreation

How much does a translation cost?

The price depends on the length of the text, the level of specialization, and the delivery deadline. I usually charge per word, but in some cases (such as very short texts) a minimum fee may apply. Send me the document so I can prepare a quote for you.

Yes, depending on my availability and the type of text. If you have an urgent request, please write to me as soon as possible and I will let you know if I can help. In these cases, a small surcharge may apply for urgent delivery, but we will always agree on this in advance.

I deliver the file in the same format as the original (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.). I always review the text before delivery and am available to answer any questions you may have.

It depends on the length and technical or creative level of the text. The season matters, too! The spring and fall months tend to be the busiest, so it is important to take this factor into account.

You can send them by email in whatever format you have available to: info@angelicavelazco.com. If the documents are confidential or contain sensitive information, I use secure channels to ensure privacy. And if you have any questions about the format or content, please don’t hesitate to ask me beforehand.

Yes, whether they have been translated by a human or by an automatic translator or artificial intelligence, in the latter case the process is called post-editing. Send me the document and we can discuss it.

Because human translation guarantees the quality and naturalness of the message. Because, so far, artificial intelligence can translate, but it cannot interpret emotions, play with double meanings, or capture cultural nuances. Besides, if you want to clarify any doubts, who better than a human?
